Missing Pieces

I hate missing pieces. We spent more than a month on this puzzle and ended with 14 pieces missing.

Larry, I'll call him

Found this guy while working in the yard. His eyes make him look part Gecko

An Apple a Day

I married a teacher, and my favorite part about her job is this wooden apple.

The Photo

I had to take this photo twice. The first shot was very blurry so I shot it again. Shot with my Canon 50mm 1.8 prime lens with my flash bouncing off the low ceiling. That's my nephew DJ with the video camera.

Engrossed

I couldn't resist taking this photo of my friend's daughter. She was watching a movie on a PSP or some other portable device.
So what is wrong with this photo? Well, there are quite a few distracting elements in it and I wish I would have framed it better because the corner of the chair in the bottom right hand corner is quite annoying. I would have cropped it digitally but the resolution is so low that I would lose a whole lot of quality. Hindsight is always 20/20 they say, so next time I'll be more careful. Also, it is not a very high resolution photo seeing as I took it with my iPhone, which is advertised as being only 2MP.
So what is right with this photo? I think the black and white really made it a little less distracting, but also I wish I would have gotten a little closer and maybe focused on just the girl and the chair.
I am disappointed this photo didn't turn out like I hoped, however, I am happy with what I did get and I have learned a few things from it.

I found this great shot yesterday and snapped it with my iPhone. There are some strong lines in this photo that really draw you into it, which is why I like it so much. I didn't originally shoot in black and white, but when you have such a simple tonal range it's usually better give black and white a shot. I have found that many of my photos that do not look good in color look simply amazing in black and white because it minimizes the distractions in the shot.
